Vedic Namkaran Sanskar Puja

In the Sanatan tradition of 16 sacred rites (Shodasha Sanskaras), the Namkaran Sanskar is the 5th and one of the most vital ceremonies in an individual’s life. It is far more than simply selecting a name; it marks the child’s first social, astrological, and spiritual identity. According to Vedic scriptures, a name carries cosmic vibrations that shape a child's character, life journey, and planetary harmony.

At Apna Reeti Riwaj, we help families honor their traditional ancestral roots while living in modern cities. Our experienced, degree-holder (Shastriya Acharya) Brahmans analyze the child's birth date, time, and birth nakshatra (constellation) to determine the most auspicious naming syllable (Namaakshar) and conduct the rituals with utmost Vedic authenticity and devotion.

Key Rituals & Steps Performed:

Swasti Vachan & Sankalp: Formal pledge and prayers invoking divine blessings for the newborn’s long life, sharp intellect, and radiant health.

Ganesh & Gauri Sthapana: Invocation of Lord Ganesha to eliminate all obstacles and bring auspicious beginnings.

Punyaha Vachan & Matrika Pujan: Purification mantras to sanctify the home and surroundings.

Navagraha & Kuldevi/Kuldevta Pujan: Appeasing the 9 planetary deities and seeking blessings from family deities according to your lineage customs.

Nakshatra & Rashi Pujan: Worshiping the presiding deity of the child’s birth star.

Writing the Name on Bronze Plate: Inscribing the sacred syllable and name onto clean rice (Akshat) placed on a bronze/brass plate using a golden/silver stick or sacred Durva grass.

Whispering the Name: The father/Acharya gently whispers the Vedic secret name and popular name into the baby’s right ear with blessings of "Aayushman Bhava".

Vedic Hawan & Purnahuti: Sacred fire offering to ward off negative energies and protect the infant.

Aarti & Raksha Sutra: Tying the protective thread (Raksha Sutra) and seeking the blessings of elders.
